Kim Bandi is a pediatric occupational therapist. She graduated from Alvernia University in 2001 and worked in outpatient pediatrics and early intervention for the Pinnacle Healthcare System in Harrisburg, PA. After moving to the Lehigh Valley, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital on the oncology and cardiac floors using the Lifestyle Performance Model. After having her first child, she returned to pediatrics and has worked in the school system ever since. Kim is the director of a small, locally-owned pediatric therapy company called Valley Family Therapeutics. She loves working with administrators, children, and their families.

Kim has worked with a variety of diagnoses, such as but not limited to intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, fragile X syndrome, autism, dyslexia, and dysgraphia, with children from birth to 21. She is a Certified Handwriting Specialist through Learning Without Tears and a Level 1 Orton Gillingham Practitioner. She is currently pursuing her master’s in Multi-sensory Reading and moving forward with training to be a Level 2 Orton Gillingham Practitioner.

Kim has three children and understands the joys and struggles of parenting. Kim believes being a parent offers invaluable wisdom she would have never gained otherwise.

She has enjoyed being a part of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and initiated and led the start-up of after-school enrichment programs for her children’s elementary school, including robotics, art, theater, and music programs. Kim has also been an assistant coach for her children’s sports teams.

In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she enjoys photography (IG @ kimberlybandiphotography), gardening, home projects, sushi, and pumpkin lattes.

The idea for The Nurture Notebook started before Kim had her third child. Kim states, “A critical gap existed between postnatal health and well-being and caring for a newborn.” Her dream was to create an easy-to-read, holistic book with developmental play and postnatal care to support moms in their first year. Like many moms, she focused on books about her children’s development rather than her recovery. She believes she and other moms would be more apt to incorporate postnatal recovery into their daily schedule when found directly placed in developmental books. She pulled from her resources and hand-picked a team of exceptional professionals to work on the project with her. Kim reports that creating The Nurture Notebook has been a fantastic learning experience and a blessing. Kim is thrilled to announce an upcoming book publication, The Nurture Notebook for Mom and Baby, and introduce the compassionate and educated team of pediatric and women’s health specialists behind the book’s development. Please join us as we continue to build a community of pediatric professionals and moms to support each other through this crazy yet fascinating journey called parenthood.
